Good times as Bon Temps

How about trying out a new cafe this week? Maybe with a good afternoon coffee or a nice breakfast before heading to work?

breakfast at Cafe Bon Temps

A beautiful and cozy small place is Cafe Bon Temps in Meilahti on Mannerheimintie. Apart from several small and big, sweet and salty breakfast options they also have a good selection of teas as well as good coffees.

Sit down at one of the wooden tables or sink into one of the pillows on the window sill and relax while looking out onto one of Helsinki's busiest street.

Give it a try and enjoy!

Red Espresso

Have you every tried red espresso, cappuccino or latte? No? Well, then it is time. At Fazer Cafés around town you now have the chance to try them.

Red Cappuccino at Fazer

But what is red espresso really? Actually it is rather a tea than a coffee. Rooibos is prepared in the same way as normal espresso. The result is a hot beverage that has a little hint of both tea and coffee. The versions with milk, like cappuccino and latte, which have the same red color as the espresso, remind a bit of Chai Latte.

Give it a try. And if you go for a cappuccino or latte, try it with cinnamon and honey. Enjoy!

Tea for kindness

It's getting colder in Helsinki. Time to switch from cold lemonade to some good warm tea. And thanks to the guys from Clipper Tea that even comes for free. Inspired by the way Finns enjoy life despite the cold they opened a pop-up tea kiosk called Clippakioski in Kansalaispuisto next to Musiikkitalo that serves their warm delicious and organic tea. It doesn't cost you a cent. The only thing you should leave at the kiosk is a note of kindness on their blackboard. Just write something nice for the next visitors to come.

Come there, leave a note of kindness and grab a cup of Clipper tea. The kiosk is open every day till September 26.

Dim Sum and tea

There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants out there. Most of them have quite similar and unspectacular food. But there is something new in town that makes Chinese food something special again.

Dim Sum for lunch at Natural Flavour Tea House

Natural Flavour Tea House in Aikatalo is not just a place to have exotic tea. They also serve Dim Sum (Chinese dumplings). Normally three or four dumplings come together in a small basket and come with different fillings like pork, chicken, shrimp, fish or vegetarian mix. Natural Flavour Tea House is more of a lunch than a dinner place. But the Dim Sum also works well as a snack in between. Especially together with a nice cup of Chinese tea of your choice. Check out their lunch offers. They might be a bit higher than usually in Helsinki but are worth their price.

Check it out and enjoy!

Tea at F8

Coffee is the number one drink in Finland. But why not have also some extraordinary tea from time to time?

Tea and sweet treats at Café Velvet

I already recently reviewed the F8 Tema restaurant on the top level of Stockmann. On the same floor you also find the Thé tea room as well as Café Velvet. Both serve a big range of special exotic teas that are worth a try. Go e.g. with the White Bear, a white tea with blueberry and herb flavors.

Both places of course also offer small sweet treats alongside with your drink. So check it out and enjoy!
