Buy second hand and help others

If you are interested in really good deals when buying clothes you should check out UFF. They have six shops in Helsinki where you can find good quality for a really low price. And the best thing about it is that with going there you support charity.

UFF is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization that supports development projects in countries like Mozambique, Angola, Malawi, Zambia and India. To do that, they collect old but still usable clothes all over Southern Finland. Some of them will be sent directly to the people in those countries. Most of it is sold in their shops though.

With the money they mainly finance training for teachers but also support rural and community development projects, Child Aid projects and projects geared towards the prevention of HIV / AIDS.

To read more about UFF and to find out how where you can donate clothes and where you find their shops, visit their website. You can even buy some clothes online in their web store.

Trash and treasures

Are you into flea markets? Well, you might not know that there is a regular one in Helsinki taking place three times per week. In an old storehouse in the northern part of Helsinki you find the Valtteri flea market. It takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. On those days it is open from 9.00 to 15.00. If you are searching for second hand stuff this is the place you most likely find what you were looking for. Amongst lot of good and still usable products unfortunately people also try to sell stuff that can just be called trash. Most useless stuff you fill find in the dissolved household department. But of course you can also be lucky. Prices here are really low and it’s worth paying a visit. You get there easily with tram line 9.

Good luck with getting good deals!
