Candy straight from the factory

Halva is one of the most traditional candy producers in Helsinki. Since the 1930s the company makes and sells delicious sweets. You can buy their products in most supermarkets. But you can also go straight to the factory and get your sweet treats right from where they are made.

Since 1957 Halva runs its factory in Pitäjänmäki. On the ground floor of the factory Halva runs a small outlet filled with delicious candy. Here you can buy gummi bears, sweet and salty liquorice and much more in big packages for reasonable prices. Also take a look at the shelf for second quality. The products might be packed the wrong way or have some other small flaws but taste exactly the same as first quality products. Of course you can also try lots of their candy in the shop.

Give it a try and enjoy!

A good deal

You are looking for some some new tech gadget? You don't have any specific product in mind but would like to pay a reasonable price? Then check out the reduced products at Verkkokauppa.com in Jätkäsaari. On the third floor in the audio and photo corner you find a corner with shelves filled really good offers. Many products have a damaged wrapping or similar. Technically they are all brand new though and you can save loads here.

Get a tablet for around 100 Euros less than the normal price. Or some cables you need for just a few Euros. The items are in no specific order. So you just have to make your way through all the shelves to find what you were looking for. But it might pay off.

Check it out and find some really good deals.

Not so golden Rax

Rax offers an all you can eat buffet for a very reasonable price of a bit under 10 Euros. For that money you get pizza, sausages, chicken wings and more as much as you want. When it comes to size and volume this is definitely a great deal. Especially since you can find Rax in pretty central locations throughout the capital region. Unfortunately this is the only upside and what you gain on the quantity side you loose on the quality side. The food you get there is greasy and the taste is below average. So if you pay any attention to healthy, delicious and good food better stay away from Rax.

Rax Buffet in Sello

I normally try to avoid reviews about mediocre places in Helsinki since I believe it makes more sense to tell you about what is really good here in the city. Rax can be found everywhere in and around Helsinki though that I thought some of you might have wondered what’s up with it.

Crazy Days are on again

Stockmann started its Hullut Päivät (Crazy Days) again. That means that for five days selected items are considerably cheaper than normally at the biggest warehouse in the Nordic countries. Take a look at their special offers. If you didn’t receive one of their printed catalogues by mail you can also browse through it on their website.

The offers change every day and for the really good deals you should be there early in the morning to be there in time when they open at 8.00. And if you can’t make it during the week you still have the whole weekend. The last Hullu Päivä is on Sunday.

It might be worth dropping by. Keep in mind that Christmas isn’t far anymore.

Everything you need and more

Tiger stores are pretty amazing shops. Their assortment doesn’t seem to follow any rules. They have all kinds of household equipment but at the same time also toys, decoration and candies.

The concept of Tiger is to have round prices. You won’t find anything for 1.59 € or 3.75 €. Things are 1 € or 2 € and are hardy every much more expensive then 3 €. That makes it fun to walk through there. You’ll find so many things at Tiger that you didn’t even know you need before. And since everything is so cheap you’ll find it tough to leave this place without buying anything. At least a chocolate bar next to the counter for 1 € will always end up in your shopping basket.

You can find Tiger three times in Helsinki. So check it out. You can really find some useful stuff here for a good price. But don’t come here to often! It might get expensive otherwise.

Everything for the household

The light bulb broke, you need a new TV cable, your bike has a flat tire or you are searching for a new pan. You don’t want to spend too much time and money to get the problem solved. Then Clas Ohlson is the perfect place for you.

This hardware store has everything you need for the household and furthermore also has really reasonable prices. They easily compete with all the big hardware stores. Just keep in mind that the cheapest is not always the best - especially when it comes to electronics.

A great thing is that you find Clas Ohlson in the center of Helsinki (in Kamppi shopping center and on Mannerheimintie). So you there is no need to take the car and drive some tens of kilometers away from the center to the middle of nowhere.

Clas Ohlson also has a pretty neat online store (unfortunately it there is no English version). Check it out!
