MTV Push Helsinki Festival

Starting tomorrow whole Helsinki will turn into a big music happening for 72 hours. At the brand new MTV Push Helsinki Festival events, parties, workshops and gigs take place all around the city.

The festival ends with a huge celebration at The Circus in the city center with Finnish and international artists. Tickets for the Circus concert can be bought online already. For more information on the festival check out the MTV website.

Jazz in Espoo

On the weekend the April Jazz Festival in Espoo reaches its climax. The festival that started already on Tuesday will go into full gear for the last three days.

In five locations in and around Tapiola you can listen to exquisite jazz from around the world. Even Grammy Award winners like Angelique Kidjo who will play on Sunday come to Espoo.

Tickets for the gigs are sold separately and can be bough online or from one of the outlets.

Räyhäbox 2014

Helsinki Music Marathon

Today the Helsinki Music Marathon starts today. For the third time now this event is being organized in cooperation with bars and restaurants around Helsinki.

Dozens of bands and singers will perform in seven locations in town during the next three days. The festival will be opened tonight at 19:00 at Sir Eino by Cherry and the Night.

The music varies from rock to funk, pop and blues and much more. And the best thing is: All gigs are for free. So check out the timetable on the Helsinki Music Marathon website and plan your next three evening.

There is a lot to see - and hear of course. So don’t miss it!

Less beef, more fun

Despite its name We Got Beef in Punavuori is not a butcher or a steakhouse. Actually they don’t have much to do with beef at all. But what they have is a lot of party, drinks and fun.

We Got Beef is one of the most well know places in Helsinki. Since its opening in 2003 this bar and club has established itself as one of THE places to be in the city. We Got Beef hosts all kinds of gigs from Reggae to Rock, from Hip Hop to Jazz. Show up on the weekend for some DJs and dancing or for just hanging out with your friends for a drink.

Rocking with the stars at Tavastia

Tavastia is the number one rock club in Helsinki. The club was built in the 1930s and is located right next to Kamppi Kauppakeskus. Almost every night bands from Finland and abroad play here.

Over the years Finland’s biggest bands such as HIM, Hanoi Rocks, PMMP, The Rasmus, Von Hertzen Brothers, The 69 Eyes, Nightwish or Apocalyptica as well as international several international stars like Nick Cave, Hurriganes and Gary Clark Jr. have rocked Tavastia’s stage.

With a capacity of just around 700 people manages to give gigs even with big stars an intimate atmosphere. So if you have the chance to see any of your big idols performing here don’t miss the chance to see them.

Welcome back to Linnanmäki!



The long winter break is over. Today at 13:00 Linnanmäki, Helsinki’s big amusement park finally opens its gate again for the new season.


And as every year there is of course a new attraction is awaiting Linnanmäki’s visitors. The haunted house has been completely renovated and is now the Kyöpelinvuoren Hotelli which was planned by the English designer Nick Farmer.

But the rides are not the only thing that makes Linnanmäki worth a visit. The amusement park again invited lots of artists for this season to play on Linnanmäki’s Estradi stage. The opening show tonight features the boy band Satin Circus, Krista Siegfrids, who will represent Finland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö and the kids heavy metal band Hevisaurus playing on Saturday and Haloo Helsinki on Sunday. Both concerts start at 18:00 and are for free.

Funk at Virgin Oil



For those of you who are up for some good black rhythm music Virgin Oil Co. is the place to go this weekend. On Saturday the Funky Awards will take place there. Get to know some local artists, listen to some great music and have a fun night. Asa, LaineenKasperi & Palava Kaupunki and Oaklyn will be performing. You can click on their names to listen to some music samples.


You can buy the tickets in advance from Tiketti or Virgin Oil for 12 € or get them on Saturday night for 14 €. The Funky Awards start at 22:00.

New music by Murmansk



Are you up for a great gig? Then be at Tavastia tonight. The band Murmansk will release their new album Rüütli there today. Their music is a mixture of indie, rock, punk, pop and several other influences. To get a first impression of what awaits you at Tavastia tonight you should check out their website.


Tavastia will open its doors at 20.00. At 20.45 the first band Hidria Spacefolk will start before Murmansk will enter the stage at 22.00. The entrance is 14 Euros at the door.

Finland, get ready for those guys!



As you read here earlier the English Flash Bang Band will be on a mission at the end of September. They travel to Finland to get 25 kilos of reindeer meat.
Now they even produced a video in Finnish to promote their visit. Check it out!

Collarbone at Semifinal


A great place in Helsinki to get to know new promising bands is Semifinal. It’s next to Kamppi shopping center and underneath Tavastia Club. If you were lucky and went there yesterday you had the chance to see Collarbone. Really cool rock music from a bunch of guys from Helsinki. You should check out their website and their next gigs. Don’t miss seeing them! Definitely worth it!
