Midnight streetfood

Could there be anything better then a nice street snack after a night out in town? Of course there are tons of small grills all around town. But if you fancy something a bit more tasty and a bit less greasy you should head to the main station.

Apart from the established grills you find food trucks here every night of the week. And among them are some really good ones that you might know from the Helsinki Street Food Carnival already.

Kallio Block Party

Kallio is the place to be today. Because today is the Kallio Block Party. Starting from 14:00 the neighborhood turns into a giant party with lots of stuff to do, see, eat and hear.

Listen to live music from bands and DJs on several stages. Check out some of Helsinki's best street food. Or just walk around and enjoy the vibe of this anyway extraordinary area of town.

The official part of the party continues until 22:00. But it's Saturday and you are in Kallio. So expect the night to be long.

Deep fried heaven

If you have ever been to the Netherlands then you probably got to try their deep fried snacks sold at pretty much any corner. Well, now you can get those delicious treats in Helsinki as well.

Theun "Tomppa" Willems brought them from his home country to Finland. At his stand right next to the Finnair SkyWheel you can now get thick fries with ketchup, frietsauce (quite close to mayonnaise) and onions as well as other Dutch specialties such as also frikandel and even stroopwafels.

Check it out, give it a try and don't worry about the calories ;)

Street Gastro meat

One of the best places in town to get sandwiches is for sure Street Gastro. Their beef, pork, lamb or chicken sandwiches are just delicious.

But did you know that you can do them on your own at home now? At least the meat, probably the most important ingredient can now be bought from their bistros as well as from selected supermarkets. For information check out their website.

Streat Helsinki EATS

Don't make any lunch or dinner plans for this weekend and head to Torikorttelit both on Saturday and Sunday where Streat Helsinki EATS takes place.

Numerous vendors from Finland and abroad sell excellent street food here during the next two days. It is the culmination of this weeks Streat Helsinki festival that brought together street food enthusiasts from around the world. After one week of talking about street food now its time to also taste it. And everyone is invited.

You can find a list of all vendors as well as the bites they offer online. The vendors open from 11.00 till 19.00 both on Saturday and Sunday.

All about street food

This week Helsinki is all about street food. For seven days street food enthusiasts from around the country and abroad come to the city to talk about, discuss and of course taste street food at Streat Helsinki.

And you can be part of that. Until Friday lots of interesting events and workshops take place all around the city that you can sign up for on the Streat Helsinki website. Have a look and register as soon as possible. Seats to all events are limited.

And of course don't miss Streat Helsinki EATS next weekend where Finnish and international vendors turn Torikorttelit into a huge street food fest offering some of their best bites.

Tasty Saturday

Not just the Street Food Carnival takes place in Helsinki today. It's also Restaurant Day again. For the last time this year you can again visit hundreds of pop-up restaurants, cafés and bars around the city and whole Finland.

So don't worry about cooking today. The streets are literally full of delicious food on this Saturday. Find your favorite pop-up restaurants on the offial Restaurant Day website.

Street Food Carnival in November

It has gotten cold in Helsinki. Some street food trucks are still around but the season of the weekly Street Food Carnival is over. Or is it really?

This Saturday and Sunday you get the chance to relive the summer street food experience. The Street Food Carnival comes to Kaapelitehdas. For the probably last time this year street food trucks from around Helsinki come together to offer their delicious take away meals. And this time they are not along. All together 24 vendors from all over Finland and even abroad will come. And they will bring amazing food with them.

Take a look at the vendors and their dishes already on the official facebook page. The event starts on Saturday at noon at Kaapelitehdas in Salmisaari. Don't miss it or you will have to wait for the next Street Food Carnival till summer.

Tasty makkara from Harju

The neighborhood of Harju is home to one of Helsinki's best sausage producers. Harjun Makkaratehdas produces some excellent meat products here. Their sausages have a growing fan base in and around the city. With their grilled sausages at several of Helsinki's street food events they managed to convince customers of the quality of their products.

Now you can also buy Makkarathedas sausages at Stockmann. They can be found in the meat department of Stockmann Herkku. The variety of flavors is huge. So give it a try and get some for your own grill at home. Enjoy!

Street Food Carinival

Street food has arrived to Helsinki. More and more street food trucks tour around the city to sell fresh and delicious snacks. Sometimes you just have to be lucky to find them since they change locations all the time.

But if you want to have them all in one spot to find your favorite street food in Helsinki, then you should come to the Street Food Carnival every Wednesday on Karsarmitori. From 16.00 till 21.00 several food trucks from around the city come here to offer their specialities. Go for a delicious vietnamese sandwich, some tasty pulled pork or some Belgian waffles.

Till the end of September you can get delicious street food ingredients from Stockmann Herkku. Buy e.g. Street Gastro's delicous pulled pork straight from the meat counter.
