Ravintolapäivä against wasting food

Today is Ravintolapäivä again. Did you already pick your favorite spots and food stands to go to? As always you can find a list of everything there is at the official website.

Restaurant Day

Restaurant Day is always special. But this time the people from Froodly have taken the event as an oportunity to do something against wasting food. The food from supermarkets that would otherwise been thrown away the day later and handed them to cooks of the pop-up restaurants for free.

The otherwise wasted food now makes for all kinds of great meals. For more information on the project check out their blog and their website.

Say hi to Venice

At the bus terminal in Kamppi you can find a pretty special box. The “white box” is an art project of Ville Hara and Anu Puustinen. Their goal is to get Venice and Helsinki closer together and allow visitors at Kamppi to have a peak at Venice Biennale.

There are two of those boxes put up – one in Kamppi and one at the Nordic exhibition "Light-Houses: On the Nordic Common Ground" in Venice. The two boxes are connected via video call connection. So standing in front of the box you can not only see what is going on in Venice but even get in contact with the people in the exhibition.

Try it out yourself! It’s fun!

To Finland for reindeer

The Flash Bang Band from UK will come to Helsinki for 27/28/29 October. But they are not just here for a short sightseeing visit. The three guys from England are on a crazy mission to get 25 kilos of reindeer meat for a Scandinavian Punk Festival at Northern Lights in Brighton.

But to succeed their mission they would need some gigs here in Helsinki. They would play basically everywhere. So should you know a pub, café, restaurant or club or might even want to have them at your own house party e-mail them. You will also find more information on the band and their music on Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud and Youtube.

You are a band from Helsinki and have some good tips and suggestions for them? In exchange they would be more than happy to also help you out with contacts and gigs in England.

Now it’s your turn. Get active and help Flash Bang Band to accomplish their mission!
