The birds conquered Kamppi

Since last Friday Rovio’s Angry Birds also have their own shop at Kamppi Shopping Center. But apart from the other shops they already opened in Helsinki this one will stay permanently. So far Rovio has always had pop-up stores in Helsinki that were just in their location for a few months before closing down again.

The new place at Kamppi offers all the popular Angry Birds products. You find everything from shirts to sweaters, from cell phone covers to the games themselves.

Go and take a look! There might also be one or two nice Christmas presents among their collection.

The birds are back in town

After the first and only Angry Birds fan shop at Verkkokauppa closed a few months back there was no place in Helsinki anymore that was purely dedicated to those peculiar characters. But luckily a new shop opened right in the center that has everything the real Angry Bird fan craves for. Backpacks, candies, t-shirts and whatever else you can think of is here.

And of course you can also play the game here on one of their big screens. Don’t forget paying this place a visit on September 27th when Rovio launches their Angry Birds sequel Bad Piggies.

You find it just across the street from the main station at Kaivokatu 8.

Surf the city with Angry Birds

You are visiting Helsinki and would like to use mobile internet on your smart phone or tablet in the city? Of course you want to avoid the ridiculously expensive costs for roaming abroad. Or you don't have a data plan but still want to access the internet on the go.

Well, NextMesh has come up with a solution. In cooperation with Rovio they installed a huge wireless network that covers the whole center from Kauppatori to Kamppi and is still growing. The network is for free for everyone and doesn’t require registration or login. This makes Helsinki the first capital worldwide to be covered by one united wireless network.

To use the service, just check for the Angry Birds network when you are in the center. You can also find more information on the Angry Birds WiFi Helsinki Facebook page.

Gummy birds and pigs

There are new delicious Angry Birds merchandising products on the market. In cooperation with the Finnish sweets company Fazer Rovio made the Angry Birds gummy bears. They come in two different versions: birds and pigs. All shapes are borrowed from the Angry Birds games so that you theoretically can build your own Angry Birds levels.

They are worth a try. You can buy them almost everywhere now in the small 150 g package. The price differs a lot though. The cheapest one I found was at S-Market for 1,69 € but some places even sell them for 3,99 €. So be careful where you get them.

Enjoy!

What’s the taste of an Angry Bird?

You can find the answer to this question now. Since Rovio started producing its own Angry Birds drinks now.

There are available at supermarkets. For 1,30 € you can have your taste of Angry Birds. There are two different flavors so far: Paradise with the yellow bird and tropical with the red bird on the can. Don’t ask me about the difference. It’s something that no one needs but a fun thing to bring when you are invited or want to make a kid happy.

Angry Birds in Space and at Kamppi

Today Rovio released its new game Angry Birds Space. And at Kamppi they gave people the possibility to check out the new game.

With a huge campaign Rovio advertised the new Angry Birds and even cooperated with NASA for that. Angry Birds Space basically works the same way you are used to from Angry Birds. With a big sling you have to try to through the little birds at the evil piggies. What has changed in the new version is that the rules of gravity have changed. Now you have to take into account zero-gravity and the gravity single planets have. Therefore Rovio made it a bit easier showing the player where the bird will go in advance. That seems to make it way easier than before but believe me it’s still tricky enough. But it’s hard to just explain a game with words. That’s why you should check out the following two short videos to get a better idea of Angry Birds Space.

Angry Bird Space can now be downloaded for Android, iOS, PC and Mac. Apparently the cooperation with Nokia didn't work that well this time since there is no version for either Symbian or Windows Phone yet.

Merchandising for the new game and its new characters (the birds looks have changed and the icy bird has been added) is just available in the US so far but will come to Europe in May. One of them is a book about space that Rovio published in cooperation with NASA and National Geographics. It’s a science book about space.

Your own Angry Birds

As most of you probably know the world famous game Angry Birds comes from Finland. It is invented by the company Rovio from Espoo. Nowadays they don’t just focus on the games themselves but also sell lots of merchandising products. For that reason they opened the first official Angry Birds fan shop in Helsinki. You find it inside the big electronic store verkkokauppa.com at Länsiterminaali.

Even though the design is pretty nice and they had nice ideas how to decorate e.g. with a big sling that you can sit on it is in face a pretty small shop. Furthermore you can also get most of the products at other shops throughout town. Sometimes even for lower prices.

But if you really want to have a big selection of Angry Birds products, the probably best place to get them is on their web store.

Enjoy shopping!

UPDATE: This shop has closed. Another Angry Birds Pop-Up Shop has opened at Helsinki Vantaa Airport though. It's open daily and will be there till the end of August.
