Fingerpori also in English

Fingerpori is one of the most popular comics in Finland. It is published in several Finnish newspapers around the country. Unfortunately for expats and tourists the jokes of the comic strips stay hidden if your Finnish skills aren't excellent.

Fingerpori in English

But the good news is that now also non-Finnish speakers can read Fingerpori. An English version of selected Fingerpori comics has been published in the book "Fingerpori from Finland". You can get it from book shops everywhere around the country or online. The price ranges from 15 to 20 €.

Have fun with Fingerpori!

Miniature Golf inside

The miniature golf places in Helsinki haven't opened yet. At least the ones outside since it is still a bit too cold to play. And after all it's more of a summer thing, right?

FunGo indoor miniature golf

Well, not necessarily. At Salmisaaren Liikuntakeskus a new indoor miniature golf court opened. FunGo has nine tracks with each two holes which gives it the whole 18 hole experience. The low light and the fluorescent colors make an even more special experience. Before or after your game you can make a stop at their small café, sit down and watch others play.

FunGo is located on the second floor of the building. The normal ticket for an adult is 14 €.

Have fun!

Miniature golf at the sea

The beauty of Helsinki is its long coastline and all the possibilities you have to enjoy time close to the sea. Close to Café Carusel there you can even play miniature golf close to the sea.

Minigolf Kaivopuisto

The course was built already in 1978 and is – especially due to its amazing location – still very popular. For 7 Euros per person (4 € for children) you get to play 20 holes while inhaling a fresh sea breeze. Minigolf Kaivopuisto is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00.

Adventure at Serena

Are you up for some fun water activities this weekend but the sea is a bit too cold? SerenaWaterpark in Espoo might be an alternative. Especially for families there is a lot to do there. The water park has in and outdoor attractions like a big wave pool, Jacuzzis, a wild stream, playgrounds, a Tarzan rope and lots and lots of fun slides. If you prefer something a bit quieter you might enjoy the sauna area.

Day tickets are 24.50€. If you book online you save 1 €. If you want to spend the whole weekend you can also book a hotel room or a cottage next to the park.

Have fun!

Welcome back to Linnanmäki!

The long winter break is over. Today at 13:00 Linnanmäki, Helsinki’s big amusement park finally opens its gate again for the new season.

And as every year there is of course a new attraction is awaiting Linnanmäki’s visitors. The haunted house has been completely renovated and is now the Kyöpelinvuoren Hotelli which was planned by the English designer Nick Farmer.

But the rides are not the only thing that makes Linnanmäki worth a visit. The amusement park again invited lots of artists for this season to play on Linnanmäki’s Estradi stage. The opening show tonight features the boy band Satin Circus, Krista Siegfrids, who will represent Finland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö and the kids heavy metal band Hevisaurus playing on Saturday and Haloo Helsinki on Sunday. Both concerts start at 18:00 and are for free.

Have a great time at Linnanmäki!

Season starts at Linnanmäki

Today Linnanmäki opens its gates again. The amusement park in the city welcomes its small and big guests to lots of rides and shows. Furthermore several restaurants and bistros offer snacks and meals for those who need a break from all the roller coasters and other attractions. With the new Kattila there is even more variety in food at Linnanmäki now. Six Finnish top chefs with a total of four Michelin stars created new dishes from around the world that, according to Linnanmäki’s website, should fit every taste and budget.

Well, Linnanmäki is not really a place for a small budget. As soon as you want to use any of the rides it quickly gets quite expensive. Think about if you just want to go on one or two rides or if you rather want to spend the whole day on the roller coasters. You can either buy single tickets or get a wristband for the whole day and unlimited use (all rides for 37 €). The nice thing about Lintsi, how the locals call it, is that the entrance is free. So if you want to inhale some amusement park atmosphere, just go there and wander around a bit.

Tip: Check out the look-out tower. It is for free and provides you one of the best views over the city.

You get to Linnanmäki either by car, with tram 3B or 3T or check here. The park will be open till October 21st.
