WFV #8

What might this little vehicle be for? Does a grown-up really fit in there and is it just driven by paddles? Lots of questions! Does anyone know the answers?

WFV #7

Up North in the Lappish wilderness seeing a quad with a riffle holder might not come as such a big surprise. In the city of Helsinki, which is probably not the best place for hunting moose and bears such a vehicle is quite exotic.

Pub on tracks

Did you know that Helsinki has the only pub tram worldwide? You can sit inside, enjoy your beer that comes fresh from the tap of the small bar inside the tram and watch the Helsinki city life as you are passing by.

The so called Spårakoff operates on the normal Helsinki tram network and one tour takes 40 minutes. You can just hop on at one of the stops. A single ticket can be bought for 8 Euros (6 Euros with the S-Etukorti). It is otherwise also possible to rent the whole tram for a private party. More information on prices, timetables and stops can be found on the official website.

The Sinebrychoff brewery still sticks to a pretty old fashioned way of distributing their beer. From time to time they deliver their barrels to the bars with their traditional horse carriage. Keep your eyes open. You might sometimes spot it in the city.

WFV #4

I haven’t been posting pictures of weird Finnish vehicles lately. But I found a new one.

Well, Finns are crazy about their sauna. Why not also have one on your party? Some companies offer getting you a mobile sauna wherever you want.

WFV #3

At Kamppi I recently got to see another weird finnish vehicle. Unlike the once so far this one is for entertainemnt purposes. Take a look.

Surprisingly I didn't see him collecting any money. So he might be paid by the shopping center. Maybe you're lucky and also get to see him some day.

ABI in the city

Who ever has been to the city center somewhere close to Esplanadi around one o'clock saw it anyway. For the once who missed it: Today was Abi day. That means that the students from highschools in the whole country where celebrating their abitur (a-levels). For that occasion they go around the city center in costumes on the back of big trucks and party as much as they can. The students where quite lucky with the weather choosing a day with mild temperatures of just around -1°C.
Here some pictures:

Since I've never seen something like that anywhere else (at least not with those kind of trucks) it kind of also counts into the category of weird finnish vehicles, I would say. What do you think?

WFV #2

And anotherone for the cathegory "weird finnish vehicles". Have you also always been wondering how on earth they manage to turn the football pitches into ice rinks? This question has been haunting me for more then a year now. But a few days ago I finally got my answer. Take a look!

It's a truck with a huge tank that melts snow and then sprays it over the whole area. Quite simple but cool concept. Still didn't figure out how exactly they get the snow on top of this thing. Does the poor driver have to use a shovel? Still a mistery to solve...

Hey guys,
last weekend I finally found out how they clean the tram tracks after heavy snowfall. Take a look. Funny thing.
