Night of the Arts

We are in the middle of the Helsinki Festival (Juhlaviikot), the biggest art festival in Finland and one of the best festivals in Helsinki. Until September 4 there are countless big and small events taking place around town.

DocPoint

Today the 15th DocPoint Festival starts taking over the the movie theaters in Helsinki. During one week some excellent documentations from Finland and abroad will be shown around town.

Love and Anarchy on screen

Helsinki's most renowned film festival is about to start again. Rakkautta & Anarkiaa takes place for the 28th time this year in the Finnish capital. From September 17 till 28 movies from around the world will be shown in 12 different theaters around town.

A night full of art

One of the big highlights of every year's Helsingin Juhlaviikot is the legendary Night of the Arts. And today it takes place again.

Flow is coming

The Flow Festival is close. This Friday one of the coolest festivals in Helsinki starts again. At Suvilahti everything is already under construction and you can again expect some awesome art installations, chill-out areas and decoration.

Flow is of course about music. This year you can look forward to acts such as Florence & The Machine, Major Lazer, The Pet Shop Boys, Beck and many more. But Flow is also about so much more. Hang out with friends and just suck in the amazing atmosphere and flair of this extraordinary event.

And don't forget to check out the food. Some of Helsinki's finest restaurants and street food trucks will be there.

Animatricks Animation Festival 2015

You like animated films? Then you have a fun weekend ahead. Tomorrow the Animatricks Animation Festival starts. The festival presents the funniest, oddest, wittiest and loveliest animated films from around the globe. This year the festival has two themes: Sound and Crowdfunding.

The festival is held at the Bio Rex Theater in Lasipalatsi. Single tickets for movies are 7 €. You can also buy a 4-ticket festival pass for 20 €. Espoo Jazz 2015

Hei jazz fans. If you don't have anything planned yet for the upcoming days then be prepared to fill up your calendar. Today the yearly Espoo Jazz Festival starts again.


A program filled with finest jazz is awaiting you. Finnish and international jazz musicians will play in different locations around Espoo. You can buy your tickets online from the official website. And some events are even for free. The festival goes on until Sunday.

Numerous vendors from Finland and abroad sell excellent street food here during the next two days. It is the culmination of this weeks Streat Helsinki festival that brought together street food enthusiasts from around the world. After one week of talking about street food now its time to also taste it. And everyone is invited.

You can find a list of all vendors as well as the bites they offer online. The vendors open from 11.00 till 19.00 both on Saturday and Sunday.

Helsinki Coffee Festival

Finns are crazy about coffee. They consume around 12 kilos of beans per person every year. Quite a bit number. Not surprising that there is also a coffee festival for all those coffee lovers. And that starts tomorrow.

It is the first time the Helsinki Coffee Festival takes place. Here you get to learn different roasteries and coffee shops from around Finland, learn how to make the perfect coffee yourself and of course get to try it.

The Helsinki Coffee Festival goes on until Sunday and takes place in Suvilahti. Entrance fees differ depending on time and day and tickets can be bought online.

Enjoy a good cup o' joe and have a great time at the festival!

All about street food

This week Helsinki is all about street food. For seven days street food enthusiasts from around the country and abroad come to the city to talk about, discuss and of course taste street food at Streat Helsinki.


And you can be part of that. Until Friday lots of interesting events and workshops take place all around the city that you can sign up for on the Streat Helsinki website. Have a look and register as soon as possible. Seats to all events are limited.

Cine Aasia 2015

Do you like movies from Asia? Well then you will be busy during the next days. Today the Cine Aasia Movie Festival starts in Helsinki. Until Sunday films from around all around the Asian continent will be shown at Bio Rex, Andorra & Duvbrovnik and at Orion.

Lux 2015

Tomorrow the Light Festival Lux starts again in Helsinki. In 13 spots around the city center light artwork is on display. Follow the Lux trail guiding you to all installations. You can start your journey at the Tuomiokirkko at Senaatintori.

Additionally there is also a side program during the whole time of the festival. Lux lights up every day from 15.00 to 21.00 until January 8. Don't miss it!

Three more days with over 80 movies

The Rakkautta & Anarkiaa Film Festival is slowly coming to an end. But this weekend is still packed with lots of movies. Over 80 films will still be screened throughout this weekend.

27th Rakkautta & Anarkiaa

It's time again for Rakkautta & Anarkiaa (Love & Anarchy). Tomorrow Helsinki's biggest and most polular film festival starts for the 27th time. This year around 180 featured films and 80 short films will be screened in several movie theaters around Helsinki.

Among the movies are Finnish and international productions from well-known filmmakers as well fresh talents. Jazz Finland Festival

Something great is coming up for Jazz fans again in Helsinki. This Thursday the Jazz Finland Festival 2014 starts. Until Sunday outstanding jazz performances take place in venues around the city. You get the chance to listen to some exquisite live acts played by some of Finland's finest jazz musicians.

Additionally the Jazz Finland Festival also includes seminars and networking events for jazz professionals. So if you are a musician yourself don't miss those.

MTV Push Helsinki Festival

Starting tomorrow whole Helsinki will turn into a big music happening for 72 hours. At the brand new MTV Push Helsinki Festival events, parties, workshops and gigs take place all around the city.

Tomorrow the Helsinki Design Week starts. It is Nothern Europe's biggest design event. At its 10th anniversary the Design Week turns the city into a big meeting place for design professionals and enthusiast.

Decilcasies from around Finland

Today and tomorrow you can try some of the finest food from around Finland at the Herkkujen Suomi festival at Rautatientori. Stands from all areas of the country present their specialities here for you to try. Try some sweet lettu or enjoy some fresh muikku.

As every year also Syystober is held at the same time right next to the food stands. Here you can try beer from microbreweries from around Finland and find your own favorite.
