The birds conquered Kamppi

Since last Friday Rovio’s Angry Birds also have their own shop at Kamppi Shopping Center. But apart from the other shops they already opened in Helsinki this one will stay permanently. So far Rovio has always had pop-up stores in Helsinki that were just in their location for a few months before closing down again.

The new place at Kamppi offers all the popular Angry Birds products. You find everything from shirts to sweaters, from cell phone covers to the games themselves.

Go and take a look! There might also be one or two nice Christmas presents among their collection.

Christmas market in the city

Helsinki has a new Christmas market. Before the big market on the Senat Square opens some small huts on Mannerheimintie already opened for Christmas fans. The Joulumaailma Christmas Market is open from the beginning of December till Epiphany at January 6^th.

Here you find handicraft but also nice Bratwurst and sweet almonds. And if you are lucky you will also see Santa Claus passing by.

How to order a taxi

Helsinki’s public transport is one of the best in the world. Still there might be occasions where you have to get from one place to another faster or just want to travel more comfortably. Then your choice will be the taxi. And ordering one in Helsinki is as easy as it gets.

Just send a text with you location (City [space] Address) to the number 13170 and the closest available taxi will come there as fast as possible. As soon as it is on its way you will get a text with the number of the taxi. This is especially convenient for foreigners that have difficulties pronouncing the street they are in over the phone.

So don’t forget saving this number to your phone!

The Christmas window

Do you know Stockmann’s Christmas window? It’s a must for all children. In the corner of Aleksanterinkatu and Keskuskatu a Chistmas window is designed every year. It is not for advertisement but for pure joy. Lots of teddy bears and other stuffed animals are arranged in a fairytale like Christmas scenery. It is the number one attraction for children and lots of them come every day to watch.

Come and take a look yourself! This is already a tradition in Helsinki and the number one sign that Christmas is coming.

A new window every day

Today it’s the first of December. Do you have your own advent calendar where you open one window each day till Christmas? If not you can pass by Salakauppa once per day. They made one side of their tiny shop an advent calendar. Each day another part of the window is opened. On the 24^th the whole window will be uncovered.
