Let’s Kimble!

Do you know Kimble? It’s a board game for two to four players. And it’s a Finnish invention.

The concept is easy. Try to get your four counters once around the board into their save home. Be aware of the other players. They might send your counters back to their starting point. The dice you need to play that game is fixed in the middle of the board and to roll it you have to press the small plastic dome it’s covered by.

You will find Kimble in almost every pub in Helsinki. Or just get your own one.

Enjoy the game!

Sweet, sweet, sweet

Do you like it sweet? Really sweet? Are you sure? If you still say yes, you should definitely try Marenki (Meringue). Most of you might know it as decoration on cakes or have had them as really small sweet treats on their last trip to France.

In Finland you can get them at quite a few cafés and the version you get here is huge. It’s quite a challenge actually to finish one of them alone. So maybe share it. Get them e.g. from Café Esplanadi where they sell them in two different flavors (original and chocolate).

Enjoy! But don’t forget a big glass of water on the side!

What does the future look like?

First of all you should know that this Saturday is a National holiday in Finland. Almost everything will be closed. The reason is that this week Wednesday was Reformation Day and in Finland this holiday is always transferred to the next Saturday.

But there is still enough to do this weekend. Today started the Digiexpo at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Center. Walk through over the fair and find out how the future of consumers electronics looks like. Big Finnish and international IT and electronics companies like Nokia, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft are presenting their very newest products. Try out the new Windows 8 and check out Nokia's new Lumia 920. It's on display at the Nokia stand and will be introduced in a special presentation on all three days.

The entrance is 15 €. Of course discounts apply for children, families and groups. Digiexpo is open till Sunday. With your ticket you also have access to Hifi Expo, Skiexpo, BoardExpo and Ice Hockey & Floorball Expo which are all taking place at the same time.

WFV #7

Up North in the Lappish wilderness seeing a quad with a riffle holder might not come as such a big surprise. In the city of Helsinki, which is probably not the best place for hunting moose and bears such a vehicle is quite exotic.
