It’s quite
a way from Helsinki Vantaa airport to the center. To get there and back you don’t
have too many options. Sure you can rent a car or take a taxi but that’s always
expensive. A taxi to the center will be around 50 € at least. Unfortunately
till 2015 there won’t be a train connection to the main station. Till then you
rely on the busses connecting the airport to the center.
There are
two options:
You can
take the Finnair
bus which leaves from the main station (Elielinaukio) every 20 minutes just
stops at Hesperian Puisto once before going straight through to Helsinki
Vantaa. The travel time is approximately 30 minutes. A one way ticket costs
6,20€ and you can also pay with card.
Another option
is using Helsinki public transport. Line 615 operates
between main station and the airport and leaves every 10 to 15 minutes. It
stops quite often on the way and depending on the bus you take (there is 615,
615T, 615TK and 615V) the traveling time differs between 35 and 45 minutes. So
try to catch the 615 without any letters. The ticket price is 4,50€. You have
to pay in cash (or use your Helsinki travel card).
The 615
makes sense especially if you anyway have a region ticket for Helsinki. But
anyway the time difference is so little that saving the 1,30€ is something to
consider.
